Mainz, January 2, 2007 – To coincide with the beginning of the new year, Westdeutsche ImmobilienBank AG (WIB) is opening its first representative office for Central Europe in Warsaw, the capital of Poland. “With this new office, the Bank will be systematically extending its presence in its most important target markets. Poland, which joined the European Union in 2004, is the largest country in Central Europe. In establishing this office, we are also following our international customers, which are increasingly investing here,” explains Claus-Jürgen Cohausz, a member of WIB’s management board.
Alongside the Czech Republic and Hungary, Poland is the most important real estate market in Central Europe. Since 2000, the Bank has been working actively in these countries via its own distribution unit as well as a specialist country credit team based in Germany. The establishment of the new representative office will allow the Bank to strengthen its market position in Poland, while intensifying its proximity with customers.
The representative office is located on the premises of WestLB Polska in the interests of tapping synergistic benefits and enhancing joint activities in the local market.
WIB is a wholly owned subsidiary of WestLB AG and the WestLB Group’s center of competence for all matters relating to real estate finance and transactions. In addition to its offices in Mainz (headquarters) and Münster, it has national operations in Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Munich and Mannheim and conducts its international activities via a branch in London as well as representative offices in Madrid, New York, Paris and now also Warsaw.
