Mainz, 23 November 2009 - Westdeutsche ImmobilienBank AG (WestImmo) is giving this year's Christmas donation of 5,000 euros to a project conducted by aid organisation CARE Deutschland-Luxemburg e.V. in Malawi.
The donation is being presented on Monday, 23 November 2009 at 11 a.m. in the foyer of the WestImmo building located at Große Bleiche 46, Mainz.
WestImmo Managing Board Chairman Peter Knopp is presenting the donation to Dr. Anton Markmüller, Executive Director of CARE Germany-Luxemburg e. V.
“It has recently been reported that the number of people suffering from famine worldwide has risen to over one billion for the first time in the last four decades. Children are suffering the most. Every day, roughly 25,000 boys and girls under the age of five die due to malnutrition. The urgency of the situation requires us to support those committed to relieving hunger around the world. That is why WestImmo is pleased to contribute to the CARE food aid project in Malawi”, said Peter Knopp.
Expressing his thanks to WestImmo, Dr. Anton Markmiller said: “World hunger is a structural problem, but one that can be solved if every country is properly committed. Having the backing of companies like WestImmo provides tremendous motivation for CARE in its battle against hunger, and it also sets an example for others.
